This summer we've enjoyed working on a variety of home improvement projects! However, we have seen one room popping up again and again on homeowners' "honey-do" lists - the bathroom! This relatively small space can pack a mighty punch in terms of design. Here are some of our favorite summer bathroom design trends:
- Free Standing Bathroom Tubs: An increasing number of homeowners are opting for free standing tubs. These luxurious units work particularly well in homes that have a seperate shower. The extra area around the bath can help to give your room an open, airy feel and with the number of free standing tubs on the market today, there is a design for every aesthetic.
- Soft Colors: While many rooms in the house are going toward brighter and bolder colors, bathrooms are heading in the opposite direction and embracing a more natural color pallete. Everything from tile and paint to flooring and countertops are showing up in shades of pale blues, greens, and grays.
- Medicine Cabinets: Bathroom medicine cabinets fell from favor a few year's back. However, today they are making a comeback! Medicine cabinets provide an efficient use of space by supplying storage without requiring an expansion of the room's footprint. In fact, in 2012 66% of bathroom designers in the National Kitchen and Bath Association reported incorporating a medicine cabinet into a recent design.
- Heated Floors: Here at Excel, we have always been strong advocates of hardwood floors.
