When these homeowners dreamed of updating their 1980s kitchen, they weren’t looking for a bigger kitchen—they wanted bigger function. Calling on Excel Builders to get the job done, the homeowners’ main goal was to incorporate better storage solutions and accessories to really put their kitchen to work.
This two-story Savage, MN home hosts a kitchen layout that the homeowners already enjoyed. From the location of appliances to the cabinet arrangement, there wasn’t much that they wanted to change. Instead we focused on outer beauty and inner innovation!
To maximize storage and functionality in the kitchen we employed some really fantastic drawer and cabinet solutions, including:
- Handy drawer inserts for utensils
- Full-extension drawers for pots & pans
- Full-extension box drawers for spices, cooking staples and pantry shelves
- Built-in dividers to organize cookbooks
- A very special pull-out/pop-up cabinet shelf for storing (and using!) their stand mixer!
We added beauty and style to the kitchen with:
- Custom Clear Alder cabinets
- Granite countertops in gorgeous complementary colors—light tone on the island and a darker color on counters
- Under-cabinet lighting
- New tile backsplash—beautifully coordinating with the color of the cabinets and the granite countertops
- Professionally sanded and refinished main-level wood floors
The new kitchen also included the installation of:
- Upgraded electrical—especially for adding more conveniently located outlets
- New stainless steel appliances
- New stainless steel sink
- New faucets
