Completed Minneapolis Kitchen Remodel

This Minneapolis MN home was built in 1942. Our clients were in desperate need for more space and a better functioning kitchen. We accomplished this by opening the kitchen to the dining room and bringing the laundry room up from the basement to the main floor. Oh, and we added a new deck, with a built-in grill and cooking area! Our carpenters loved working on this small but dynamic project!

To achieve maximum space for the new kitchen, we were able to remove a wall, close off another door way to the hall way, and relocate the entrance to the basement. Custom cabinets were designed and built. As is with a lot of kitchens, the cabinetry is about maximizing the space and function; this is done by using Rev A Shelf cabinet accessories.
A peninsula for the kids to sit at, extra counter top space and storage was a must. One bank of drawers was custom made with a wired front to store their fruits and vegetables.

A new casement window was added over the Shaw farm sink to give a nice view of the backyard.
On the other side of the kitchen we added a Thermador 36” wide professional gas range along with a five-door refrigerator, a paneled dishwasher and a custom-built Juliet hood surround for the Vent A Hood.
Off the back of the home was an old screened porch with a doorway to the backyard and garage. This porch was converted to be part of the home with forced heat and air conditioning. This was and is the new space for the laundry room. However, this space was large enough to incorporate a bench and storage. We added wallpaper and stripes to play up this new sunny space.

Our job at Excel Builders is working with our clients to design and build a space to fit their needs. However, it is also imperative that in the end their space is more than they could have imagined.
